Membership Information
Anyone interested in calligraphy or related arts is invited to join Masscribes!
Our members are from the New England area, including Massachusetts,
Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Our guild embraces calligraphers,
lettering artists, and art enthusiasts of all levels of expertise making
it an exciting, dynamic organization. The guild provides a supportive
and fun environment for newcomers and "old-inkers" alike. A
good number of our members are professional calligraphers to whom calligraphy
is not only a passion, but their livelihood. Right alongside such accomplished
members you will find beginning to intermediate calligraphers in workshops,
meetings, and at conferences... all following the same desire to keep
this wonderful art alive.

Activities
Meetings are held throughout the year. Programs include demonstrations, slide presentations, socializing and more. The annual potluck brunch is a popular event.
Workshops offer study in lettering, from beginner to advance levels, and related topics such as paste paper making and color theory. Our instructors come from all over the world to teach these workshops.
In keeping with our guiding principle of fostering the awareness of calligraphy throughout the area, all members are encouraged to participate in Masscribes exhibits. Shows have been held at South County Center for the Arts (RI), Vintage Books, Mass Bay Community College, the West Roxbury and Framingham Public Libraries and the Moose Hill and Broadmoor Audubon Sanctuaries.
Dues are $25.00 per year. Membership runs from January to December.
