Dan Mooney:
Many fellow calligraphers I meet seem to find "Old English" lettering very challenging. During this workshop, we will take the mystery out of Old English (Gothic, Blackletter) and make it easy to learn based on exemplars that I have found to be very understandable and legible. I will share some of the tips and tricks I've picked up over the years.

- Techniques to make this one of your easiest lettering styles to use.
- Make a personalized "Certificate of Artistic License"

Techniques to help make your Old English very LEGIBLE

How to copy Complicated Versals onto black or dark papers without a lightbox

Play with color, illumination, shadowing and adding a bit of your own style

And of course, a touch of gold... just because.
Because everyone seems to have different issues with Old English, I plan to handle the workshop in a manner in which people will discuss their individual issues with it and we will explore solutions.
